> The current government will have a budget surplus of about $80 million this year, and an estimated surplus of $5 billion over its whole term – not to mention the accumulated past reserves of a few hundreds of billions of dollars.
The PAP govt seems to be getting carried away in building reserves. It seems to think that the job of the Govt is to build reserves for the country. They forget that the primary job of a Govt in any country is to ensure the well being of its citizens first (ie, jobs, housing, transport, healthcare etc) and not build reserves. What’s the use of building such a large reserves when Singaporeans are suffering?
In fact, with a large reserves being accumulated by the PAP Govt in the last 5 years, it can only mean that the people have been over-taxed for the last 5 years. This is nothing for PAP to be proud of.

It could have been much more if those PAP dogs have not fed themselves so full with sky high wages!

Every time when I look at the national reserves, I feel so rich and the best part is, I know the reserves won’t run away.

PM and his cabinet salaries should get more salary. They make so much sacrifices, increase cost of living affects everyone - they too have to pay GST, ERP and other taxes and utilities. Wouldn't you want your boss to increase your salary because of all these increases?

They make so much money for the country and therefore need to be rewarded with performance bonus, year end bonus and other incentives. Wouldn't you ask your boss for a raise if you have brought in more revenue for your company?

They could have made more if they have not been in government services. Ask LHL or LKY. Their younger brother and son LHY who just have to look after only one or two companies earns more than the PM of the country who have to look after the welfare of 5 million people and at the same time make money for the country. If you are in the shoes of PM Lee, wouldn't you have quitted long ago to seek greater fortune elsewhere, if fortune is your main reason for working?

PM Lee and his team has to deal with all sorts of people - from the physically and mentally challenged people to the psychotic cases who simply do not understand the heavy burden of the responsibilities. If you are in their position, shouldn't you be asking for more?

Bottomline You cannot have one rule for yourself and have another rule for others - especially those in government.

I am sure Sylvia Lim, Low Thia Kiang Kiang are not fighting for a cut in their $15,000 additional income they are getting, yes?

In their 20 odd years in Hougang and Potong Pasir have you heard of the MPs asking for a cut in their MP allowance or salary?

Let's us be fair. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

Head I win, tail you lose

Poor PM Lee. Never got A for any of his subjects in his life, and now that he got an A, he got real worry. He wouldn't mind getting just an A for just one subject, when all the other subjects got A+.

If the salary of his cabinet is reduced, people will say that "you see, all along their salary is so high. Now they feel guilty and want to reduce it. Or they have already got so much already."

On the other hand, if their salary is not reduced, these same people will say "there I told you so. It's wayang only. Say say but never do."

Head I win, tail you lose.

Salary revision doesn't always mean less salary. Same as in your company, you only hope that it will be raised, not decreased.

PM and his cabinet salaries should be revised upwards. They make so much sacrifices, increase cost of living affects everyone - they too have to pay GST, ERP and other taxes and utilities. Wouldn't you want your boss to increase your salary because of all these increases?

Re: Head I win, tail you lose

this claim is very difficult to swallow. there were investment in SHINTAWARA belong thugsin....and thugsin ran road. the shares tamasick bought with dollars had turned into cts. then there were again problem in indonesisa, india...etc.

almost everywehre they invested, there seem to be problematic.

so how could they make such a immense profit? probably from sucking fr the peasants more likely.
