SINGAPORE: Police have arrested four foreigners for their involvement in a series of theft reported at MRT stations islandwide.

The male suspects are aged between 28 and 34.

Two were arrested near Dhoby Ghaut MRT station on Wednesday. The duo were found loitering suspiciously. One of them was later seen stealing a wallet from an unsuspecting female commuter's handbag.

Two other accomplices were later arrested in Aljunied. A bag, containing two stolen mobile phones, was found in their possession and seized as case exhibit.

The four suspects will be charged in court on Friday. If convicted, they face a jail term of up to three years or fine, or both
