Too many breakdowns along East-West Line

<!-- by line --><!-- end by line -->
<!-- end left side bar --><!-- story content : start -->
THERE are too many MRT train breakdowns along the East-West Line.
On these occasions, commuters were stranded on the platforms and inside the trains for quite a while. When the train services resumed, more commuters were seen rushing towards the already overcrowded trains.
SMRT should do something about these breakdowns, which happen within days of each other.
I am also surprised that the Public Transport Council found the transport service satisfactory and that it met all service standards in the latest review.
David Kwok

As pointed out by the writer, it is rather puzzling that despite the breakdowns, the transport service is of satisfactory standard.

Looking forward to a reply from the new SMRT spokesperson, Nicole Batchelor.

LTA will say that SMRT is obliged to observe by the threshold. All will stop at that. This is the way S'pore works nowadays. The Perm Sec, Admin Service Scholars are there to collect their fat monthly salary like fattened cows too complacent and minds too dulled to give meaningful public service.

last tum only loading mainly local true blue born in sg singaporeans.
nowsday overloading with millions of foreigners from east to west n north to south not forgetting going round in circles.

I bet they've been scrimping on the servicing of the trains. Years ago had a friend who's job it was to source for cheaper materials to service the trains.

What other corners are they cutting

Complain too much they will up fares again.

Complain too much they will up fares again.

Everything$$ goes up in Spore irregardless of whether or not anyone complains.

The only thing that varies are the lame excuses they give to justify the increases: phantom fare cheats, fuel hikes,...

satisfactry bcos their svc standard is half fark, but they still getting their fat pay cheque on time every month mah.

quite a few cases of jumping from the station, but newspaper or tv did not published or boardcast.

Their solution to solve the problem of over-crowding and congestion is to build more mrt stations.
Someone should tell those wise men and women that as long as they don't increase the frequency of the trains or the size of the trains, having more train stations is not going to solve the problem of over-crowding.
The train stations may be less crowded, but the trains will be still as crowded and still as impossible to board.

actually the overloading theory is bullsh*t la. as if zero passengers, the train can achieve top speed?

I believe he is referring to the survey done whereby

8 out of 10 Sinkaporeans satisfied with public transport :oIo:
