Over 3,000 chickens on Pingtung farm culled due to avian flu

Taipei, Feb. 15 (CNA) More than 3,000 chickens at a chicken farm in Pingtung County have been culled after they were confirmed to have been infected with the highly pathogenic H5N2 avian influenza, the Council of Agriculture (COA) said Monday.
The Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine under the COA said it followed standard procedures in culling the 3,088 chickens at the farm in the county's Hsinyuan Township and cleaning and disinfecting the farm and the surrounding area.
