SINGAPORE: An accident involving two lorries along Tanah Merah Coast Road on Tuesday morning killed one and injured 25 others.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was informed of the accident from a member of public just after 6am.

SCDF said it arrived seven minutes after receiving the call, and found a man trapped in the driver's seat of one of the lorries.

Rescuers took about 20 minutes to free the man, using hydraulic tools.

Some 60 personnel including rescuers, firefighters and paramedics were deployed to the scene.

They attended to the 25 casualties at the accident site.

The injured were taken to Changi General Hospital by nine ambulances.

One man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
