Excessive fertilizer might have caused Queenstown fire
STOMPer Safarullah was at Mei Ling Street opposite Block 154 when a fire broke out at a grass patch there. He suspects the blaze was caused by fertilizer placed over an overheating lamp.
Said the STOMPer:
"A small fire broke out at Mei Ling Street opposite Block 154.
"This happened when my friend and I were chilling there.
"We realised smoke was coming from the grass area and we poured water to extinguish it, but the fire didn't subside.
"Within 5 minutes of receiving the call, the firemen arrived and handled the situation well.
"Credits have to be given to an SCDF personnel, Caleb, who handled the situation well.
"The cause of the fire might be due to over-heating of the fertilizers, which had been accidentally placed over a light source, causing it to get heated up.
"Somebody has to educate those who fertilize the area that fertilizers are combustible."
