Posted: 13 March 2013 1777 hrs
SINGAPORE: A crew member of a harbour craft died after the vessel collided with a container ship on Wednesday afternoon, around 12pm.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said the incident happened in Sinki Fairway, about 7km southwest of Pasir Panjang Terminal.
The container ship is an Antigua and Barbuda-registered vessel.
MPA said two people were on board the harbour craft which sank after the collision. The second person was sent to the hospital for treatment.
MPA has issued navigational broadcasts to vessels in the vicinity to keep clear of the incident area, but added that port operations are unaffected.
MPA is investigating the incident and will review safety procedures in the port.
This is the second collision in five days. On March 9, a coaster craft sank after it collided with a passenger ferry in the West Keppel Fairway, about 3.5km from the Pasir Panjang Ferry Terminal.
One crew member of the Indonesian registered boat was reported missing.
A search and rescue operation was activated but the man has not been found.
