An off-duty Gurkha police officer and several colleagues were clubbing at Clarke Quay when he caused serious hurt to a man.
Raj Kumar Ligal, 24, a Nepalese, was jailed for nine months on Wednesday after pleading guilty to grievously hurting Mr Ramasamy Muruganantham, 38, a security officer, outside The Arena pub at about 3.25am on April 1.
A district court heard that Ligal and his friends had gone to The Arena for drinks.
While they were dancing, a quarrel ensued when Ligal's friends tried to befriend a woman from the other group.
