An off-duty Chinese police officer in civilian clothes was beaten by 10 other officers at a police station on Wednesday, local media reported
The attacked officer, surnamed Chen, suffered wounds up to 10cm long to his arms, legs, and abdomen. The Municipal Public Security Bureau in Baoji city, Shaanxi province is investigating the case, according to the China Business News.
On Wednesday morning, Chen, dressed in civilian clothes, accompanied a friend to inquire why there had been no progress on a case regarding a car accident the friend experienced two months earlier. Chen said the officers had a very bad attitude.
As he and his friend were leaving the police station, they were hauled by a group of officers into the courtyard and attacked, Chen said.
“I didn’t resist at the time. From many years of experience being a police officer, I knew that if I raised a hand, it would be considered assaulting an officer,” Chen said.
“I was going to the local police station with a friend to handle affairs. Who knew I’d get attacked by the station’s police?”.
The police station where the alleged attack occurred declined to comment, the report said.
