Some Singapore doctors are seeing more younger people coming in with heart problems that could lead to more serious conditions later in life. This, as the number of heart attacks continues to rise.

According to a national registry, it now stands at more than 12,000 a year, compared to about 8,000 a decade ago. Sherlyn Seah reports.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally, taking an estimated 17.9 million lives each year, representing 32% of global deaths. Of these deaths, 85% were due to heart attack and stroke.

In Singapore, about
23 people die from cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke) every day.

Cardiovascular disease accounted for 30.9% of all deaths in 2023. This means that
almost 1 out of 3 deaths in Singapore is due to heart diseases or stroke.

High cholesterol is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) because it contributes to plaque buildup in arteries, leading to atherosclerosis, which can cause heart attacks and strokes. When there is excess cholesterol in the blood, it can deposit in artery walls, forming plaque that narrows the blood vessels and reduces blood flow.

LDL Cholesterol and Heart Disease

Here's a more detailed explanation:

How High Cholesterol Leads to CVD:
  • Plaque Formation:
High levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol can deposit in the arteries, forming plaque.

  • Atherosclerosis:
This plaque buildup is called atherosclerosis, causing arteries to narrow and harden.

  • Reduced Blood Flow:
The narrowed arteries restrict blood flow to the heart and other organs, leading to conditions like angina (chest pain) and peripheral artery disease.

  • Blood Clots:
Plaques can rupture, leading to blood clots that can block arteries, causing heart attacks or strokes.
The Role of LDL and HDL Cholesterol:
  • LDL Cholesterol:
High levels of LDL are a major driver of plaque formation and are strongly linked to CVD.

  • HDL Cholesterol:
HDL, or "good" cholesterol, helps remove cholesterol from the arteries and carry it back to the liver for processing, potentially reducing CVD risk.
Dietary Cholesterol and CVD:
  • While some research has focused on the link between dietary cholesterol and CVD, recent studies have shown mixed results, with some finding no significant association between dietary cholesterol or egg intake and CVD.
  • However, a study by the American Heart Association found that eating half an egg per day may increase the risk of CVD by 6%.
Other Risk Factors:
  • High cholesterol is just one risk factor for CVD. Other factors like smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and lack of physical activity also contribute to CVD risk.

What the mainstream media do is to brainwash the sheeple to believe correlations is the cause, they will never tell you it was the vaccine that is the causation.

Sheeple always fall for phenomenon based science without understanding the root cause

Too many people driving grab.

Many are grab drivers, imagine the toll on your heart when u need to maneuver among traffic and keep your keys on the phone screen.

Oh dear, hope I don't be a victim. But then again, it's not a bad way to die, it's quite fast. Chest pain, break out in sweat, difficulty breathing, then die. All within 10mins.
