Labour movement intensifies outreach to white—collar workers
Office workers seen at the financial district in Singapore
SINGAPORE: Singapore’s labour movement is intensifying its outreach to white—collar workers, including independent ones.
It plans to work with freelancers to address any concerns on training and upgrading.
A book catered to professionals, managers and executives (PME) was also launched on Wednesday.
It contains information on workplace rights for white—collar workers.
There are also plans to use the Employment and Employability Institute to better equip executives for future challenges.
But that’s not the end of outreach efforts.
Patrick Tay, director of the Legal Services Department at NTUC, said: "We have done some discussions and (are) exploring the possibility of setting up a full—fledged professional Workplace Advisory Service, beyond the traditional advice that we’re giving to our union members."
