Far implication of Medishield Life and other opt out or forced insurance schemes -

This incident is going to have a very heavy implication on the Medishield Life and other opt out or forced insurance schemes. Opt out and forced insurance schemes will work the same way. No acknowledgement is required from the client. The insurance companies can simply assume all the clients know the terms and conditions of the policies they issue. So hard luck for the customers even if they don't have a clue what the terms are.

Then one fine day, when a claim is made, the company can point out any term, any condition or whatever and tell the client that there is no case for a payout, just like the NTUC Income case. Unlike the usual practice where the client is explained the terms and conditions by a rep of the company, there is no one to explain the terms to these ready made clients under the opt out or forced schemes.

This is yet another reason to object to the mad forced Medishield Life scheme.

I read this letter to the shitty times, & I am monitoring the claims for this DPS, for, so coincidentally I am helping someone who is like the writer , is making a claim. I have asked the insurer agent & even the doctor attending to the person, on the claim, at the moment, it is confidential , I cannot divulge annything.

What what I have learn was, DPS - Dependent Protection Scheme, expire at age 60 years of age. That means you start work, pay the premium from that age..at 60, the policy is no longer valid & the premium stop. Policy holders receive yearly statement of the amount insured for & if you have been contributing for a number of years , you will be given bonus of x,xxx in addition to the amount insured for. I have asked the insurer about the bonus, the amount stated is on paper only... that is to look good, unless you are dead or half dead...it means nothing.

Say, you pay DPS, from the day you started work, the premium is cheap I think it was $60.. to say, you live up to 60 years of age, since this is a low cost insurance, once you reached 60...your premium automatically stop & the policy expire. I ask, don't the insurer, give out a token sum or shopping vouchers or maybe a small gift to the insured, when the policy expire at 60 years of age, the answer is no...& thank you for contributing to the insurance company!!..

Anyway, this is a low cost policy..."beggars cannot be chooser".!!!

Read & read & find out, any insurance policy, especially those using CPF FUNDS,,,,read the fine line...ask!!!
