Two weeks ago a NS man, 3 days before ROD, mati. Found out he kenna internal injuries and heat stroke (44 degC his body). Then ROC media went to investigate now found out he kenna lots of punishment because he probably know a lot of corruption happening in his camp. Now shit really hit the fan - loan sharking, unlawful claims by transport for vehicle maintenance by private company, etc etc. MINDEF trying to cover up the shit but whenever media uncovered some shit they will respond (sounds very familiar - reactive rather than proactive)

Today president also lanlan went to visit family again because 30,000 people protesting at his doorsteps.

Above video and photo taken from 10pm news TVBS

Taiwanese really got balls man!

What an almighty difference compared to S'poreans.

Don't say that GD, the recent Navy guy also saw a couple 超级白 scoring front page on the shit times.

The Taiwanese really bother to show their disgust and displeasure against social injustice, even if it does not concern them personally.
Unlike Sinkies.

It's not just about cohesiveness but rather these Taiwanese know their rights and also have the balls to demand to have their rights met. I've been watching this news for the past 3 days whole day and night and you could see how kayu their officials from Mindef or other civil servants react to new discoveries by the media.

I have great respect for their media.

Taiwan's going to scrap NS soon. Damn suay this fella. RIP

Bro you still no sleep ah?

Insomnia, that darn bottle of single malt keeps calling out to me when I close my eyes.:D

Couple more emails and I'm off battling Z monsters.

Yeah, I used to watch the taiwan news and talkshows regularly last time, where their "famous mouths" (ming zhui) would go on the talkshows and verbally whack the government upside down if there were any cases of social injustice. Their reporters, news anchors and talkshow anchors are also damn on the ball and will not fail to criticise the government, officials and anyone from the establishment who is guilty of not looking after the interests of ordinary people.

Of course there will be those with political agendas or personal vendettas and objectives, and even media stations which are "blue" or "green", but by and large, many of them say these things (which are not censored in the media), for the benefit of ordinary folk.

Seriously, people who claim that people or even chinese people all over the world are the same, are simply ignorant.
And unfortunately, my regard and respect for sinkies is growing less and less by the day.

Bro, I think the tide is starting to turn. I feel the same way as you but I'm not giving up. Attitude is changing. However just looking at the recent hawker issue one can see even simple civil case is so political, fucking PAPis so entrenched in our daily lives and if one day they are forced to hand over its gonna be really messy.

no son of mother should die like that especially during national slavery. at least taiwan kia mothers concern about the sons of other mothers. sinking land is opposite, other people sons can die but not their son.

tonychat is right all along.

Tide may be starting to turn because more and more are personally adversely affected by policies, an example of how the tide has turned is the result in Punggol east BE, not so much Aljunied and Hougang.

But not turning in terms of overall mentality and attitude changing imho.

Firstly, the attitude and mentality (which I constantly refer to as establishment mentality inherited or acquired from you-know-who) is already deeply entrenched in many people, and these people may not even be from the establishment and elite. People are still looking after their own and family interests and not for society.

Secondly, there are so many of "them", as in pappies and their helpers, families, relatives, friends, supporters, PAWS, hangers-on, groupies, entourage etc. Although I made a joke about the number of "members" :D in the article written by that pap member who is also a hawker, it is really worrying how many of them there really are.
