STOMPer Ex-firefighter spotted a visually-handicapped man who had knocked his head against a beam supporting this flyover near the Esplanade. The STOMPer suggests erecting a low barrier to prevent similar incidents from happening next time.
The STOMPer said in an email:
"These pictures were taken at the flyover that joins Elizabeth Walk to Marina Promenade, near the Esplanade.
"Below the flyover is a wide promenade used by pedestrians, joggers, cyclists and mothers pushing their prams.
"The giant supporting beams below the flyover are sloping at angles of about 45 degrees.
"Once, I saw a visually-handicapped man who was tapping the floor there with his cane.
"He thought the way was clear but when he moved forward, he knocked his head against the beam.
"I suggest that a yellow and black line can be drawn on the sloping beam at a human-height level to warn pedestrians.
"Also, a low barrier can be erected from the round pillar to the end of the flyover.
"This will prevent many accidents and injuries from happening in the future."
