mam Muamar Dahnoun said in a Friday sermon on July 11, 2025, at the Islamic Association of Raleigh, North Carolina, that Gaza "took upon itself" to be the face of the Islamic nation. He emphasized the importance of placing Islamic identity above one's own life and existence on earth. Dahnoun said that the people of Palestine chose to put the Al‑Aqsa Mosque and their Islamic identity first, despite the difficulty of going up against the world's legitimization of the Israeli occupation. He described them as warriors and "saviors" of the Islamic nation. He also said that the superpowers are waging a war against Islam, including in schoolbooks, in the modesty of Muslim daughters, and in the manhood of Muslim sons.

"The people of Palestine could have easily taken the same decision that many nations have taken before. Once the occupation happened, they would never resist, and they would accept the status quo, and they would say: 'Why should we resist? Look at the Islamic nation. No one cares about us, no one is even willing to sacrifice for us. Why should I sacrifice?'

"The decision taken by the countries around the world to recognize such illegal occupation... They recognized it, and they approved it, and they supported it, so it is so difficult to go against it. Going against it at the time was like you're committing suicide, but they did it anyway and they have been doing it for the past 75 years, my dear brothers and sisters on behalf of the Islamic nation.
