Close to 47% of the units are priced at RM300,000 and below, says deputy minister.
Deputy housing and local government minister Aiman Athirah Sabu said the issue of unsold homes is driven partly by a mismatch between supply and demand across various segments of the housing market.
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 32,800 completed residential units worth RM16.37 billion remained unsold as of the first quarter of this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy housing and local government minister Aiman Athirah Sabu said 15,400 units, or 46.9% of the total, were priced at RM300,000 and below, with the remaining above RM300,000.
“This shows that the issue of unsold homes is not limited to affordable housing but is also driven by a mismatch between supply and demand across various segments of the housing market,” she said during Minister’s Question Time.
