No one should ever tell us that we are xenophobic

Sinkies must protest against this unjust labeling as anti foreigners. No one from any country would want their home to be flooded by so many foreigners in so short a span of time and with the infrastructure stretching and barely able to cope. The anger of Sinkies is not against the foreigners but against the policy of having too many foreigners leading to over crowding, unwanted competition, high cost of living, and a better future for our children.

This comment from the blog is so true. Singaporeans have always been so welcoming of foreigners. Have come across some country citizens who don't even welcome tourists - people who spend money and create jobs - let alone welcome people to take jobs as what Singaporeans have been welcoming all this while!

I would say that Sgeans are the most accomodating people in the world! In fact I am surprised that when already so much of their own living and breathing space are taken up by foreigners, they are still so gracious face-to-face, where anywhere else this happened, there would have been a real backlash, rite now its just speaking words that echo their discomfort and ritely so, violence was and is never their way, being a peaceful people.

The only people beating the xenophobic drum are those who don't want to face the real national issues and deal with them head-on but throw smoke instead, continuing to push the envelope and test the limits of resilience and already stretched patience of the locals.
