Indian soldiers reportedly captured footage of a stationary, human-like object near the border, sparking online discussions identifying it as a possible Chinese surveillance or sentry robot. The sighting has intensified speculation about China's use of advanced, unmanned technology in the challenging, high-altitude border region, where extreme cold and low oxygen levels make human patrols arduous. Previous reports have suggested that China is increasingly deploying robotic units to replace soldiers in such inhospitable conditions.

Based on general specifications for high-end military and security robots, a system designed for border surveillance in harsh conditions might have these features:
- Daylight Camera Visual Detection Range: Advanced systems are capable of detecting vehicles at distances of up to 2,500 meters.
- Night Thermal Detection Range: Extends up to 2 kilometers or more, especially for larger objects.
- Autonomous Robots: Demonstrate exceptional accuracy in navigation.
- Weapon Systems: AI-powered artillery systems under testing in China have exhibited remarkable precision during trials. Eg can activate drone attacks, transmit survey information, and, when equipped with an arm and AI, autonomously decide when to fire.
