[h=2]No jail for pastor who cheats?[/h]

Pastor tempered with the fuel gauge to cheat on the 3/4
tank rule.
Today I read in the papers that our dear CHIEF Justice Chan Sek Keong
overturned a lower court’s decision to impose two-week jail and replaced it with
a mere $4000 fine. He said that though jail imprisonment is a “STANDARD”
punishment in such cases, no reason was given in the first case why imprisonment
was appropriate.
OMG, this is our dear CHIEF Justice!!! You mean our society has evolved until
we can now condone and absolutely accept people who CHEAT and just impose a
fine?! Is your fine half a million dollars?! If you ask me, ANYBODY who cheats
should be jailed. It’s just like anybody who killed someone should be hanged
too. This is NOT retribution but just simple justice!
I am really sick of our justice system. It seemed that it is always fining
people and not jailing them. In the first place, most of these perpetrators are
millionaires. Do you think fining them one or two thousand dollars will make
them learn their lesson?!
Already our police force is short-handed and cannot be around whenever the
law is broken. The only way to keep badies in check is to punish those who are
caught MERCILESSLY!! Only this will DETER anyone else to commit the same
crime.
In the first place, the CHIEF Justice should not be asking for a reason why
people who CHEAT should be jailed. This is especially so in this case where it
involves a PASTOR!! How do you preach God’s words when you are a cheater? A
PASTOR is easily one of the well-respected persons in the Christian community.
Already we have one crazy fellow using the Church’s money like his own
piggy-bank, we definitely don’t need another one to tell other Christians that
it’s ok to cheat!!
On a brighter note, this is probably CJ Chan’s last case as he steps down on
6 November. To that, I say, “Thank God”. I sincerely hope that the new Chief
Justice can do us proud and bring back the integrity that our judicial system
truly deserves!!

“In his judgement on Tuesday, Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong said the
district judge had given Yang the benchmark sentence of two weeks, even though
this case is “relatively not a serious offence”.
He pointed out that Yang had lied to the officer and this is punishable with
a jail term. Still, the chief justice noted that custodial sentence is for
repeat offenders.
He pointed out that Yang is a first offender and a heavy fine would
suffice.
Describing the jail term as “inappropriate and disproportionate”, CJ Chan
said a fine of $4,000 is to be imposed instead of the two-week jail term.”
