DURING a rambling interview based on the fate of punk-rocker protesters Pussy Riot, Russian President Vladmir Putin has come out against ... group sex on the internet.

In his first public interview on Russian state television since being re-elected President in May, Mr Putin accused Pussy Riot band members who had protested prominently against his controversial re-election earlier this year of having "staged a group sex session in a public place".

"Well some may say it's their own business," he said, "people can do what they want if it doesn't violate the law ... but in a public place! I think the authorities should have already paid attention.

"Some group sex fans say that group sex is much better than individual because there isn't any team work, you can be lazy and go unnoticed ... But I repeat everybody minds his own business. But to post it on the internet is a very controversial issue, I think. It could have been given some legal assessment, too."

The former spy master then went on to say the Pussy Riot protests were "purely a judicial matter".
