Nimes to be relegated for match fixing

A Ligue de Football Professionel (LFP) Disciplinary Commission has heard Nimes attempted to fix matches and subsequently relegated the club from Ligue 2.
The second-tier club were found to have attempted to fix games against Bastia, Dijon, Caen and Creteil-Lusitanos in Ligue 2 last season.
Following the commission hearing on Tuesday, the LFP opted to relegate Nimes to the third tier at the end of the campaign.
Former president Jean-Marc Conrad has also been suspended from any official duties for a period of seven years.
However, the club has appealed the decision, releasing a statement explaining: "The president [Christian Perdrier] is stunned by the penalty for the club, namely the demotion of a division.
"But the club has already appealed the sanction and will fight to the end to assert its rights."
