Not fewer than 52 farmers and fishermen were reportedly killed in multiple attacks by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Kukawa local government area of Borno State, sources said.

Business Day gathered that the attack happened on Thursday morning in three remote villages near Baga town in Kukawa Local Government Area on the fringe of Lake Chad Basin.

According to a source familiar with the development, the terrorists attacked three communities simultaneously, including Mallam Karanti, Kwatan Dauwashi, and Daban Waya.

The source said the terrorists gathered farmers and fishermen near the villages and killed them….

“We tried to organise a rescue mission with security agencies to recover the victims’ bodies, but the terrorists returned and prevented us.

“Nearly 20 individuals were forcefully taken away by the terrorists, and their whereabouts are yet unknown,” a local source said.
