Interpol's complex in Singapore now fully operational

SINGAPORE - A building which houses the first digital crime centre of the international police was officially opened on Monday morning.

The opening ceremony marked the start of full operations for the Interpol Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI), a research and development facility of the International Criminal Police Organisation, or Interpol.

The building is located on the former site of the Tanglin Police Division headquarters in Napier Road.

Besides a digital crime centre, the complex houses a cyber innovation and outreach directorate, and a capacity building arm.

The IGCI will complement Interpol's headquarters in Lyon, enhance its presence in Asia, and support policing efforts to tackle new and emerging crimes around the world.

The IGCI started operations last November and currently has 110 officers from 50 countries.

With an office space of about 11,809 sq m, the complex can house up to 350 staff.
