Yes it will be another junta if we the Stinkieshiptizen are not careful and selective enough
we'll be as good as dead if no opposition comes into power.

The fella did a good job of running the Navy, and he would likewise do a great job managing our CPF funds. Singapore has been run by former SAF generals and colonels for decades. Look how much Singapore has progressed while our neigbhours are still mired in slums and civil unrest.

i wonder what does a ex military general know about savings and finance and macro economics coming from a military organisation that exceeds its own budget every year by hundreds of millions.

He needs to be able to set the direction and be the leader for the whole organization. Within the organization, there are accountants and economists who will take care of the nitty gritty. It was the same with Goh Keng Swee when he set up our SAF. He too started of knowing nuts about soldiering.
