[h=2]Netizens breaking Sedition Laws: Why the sudden softening of tone now, PM Lee?[/h]
by Kojak Bt on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 9:13am
In 2005, two bloggers were sent to jail for posting racist remarks online.
At the time, PM Lee said: "And so, racial harmony and religious harmony are of utmost importance in Singapore, which is why when somebody went and published some racist blogs recently, we came down very hard," he said. "All you need is one crazy guy and a disaster takes place and an enormous rent happens, a tear in the fabric of society." (http://www.womengateway.com/NR/exeres/486A85EF-2B82-421F-A730-CB0BB5718663.htm)
But now 6 years later, when one of PAP members is involved, he now said: "I think we have to respond in a mature and calm sort of way. It's wrong that they did it and we acted against them but it's not necessary for us to get worked up every time something like this happens. It will happen once in a while and we will have to take it in our stride." (http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1169360/1/.html)
