CAAS gets new board line-up

A BOARDROOM shuffle at the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will see half its members losing their board seats.

As part of a revamp of the airport business, the CAAS will be split in two with effect from tomorrow - one part will run the airport and the other will be responsible for industry regulation.

In October last year, it was announced that Mr Liew Mun Leong, the current CAAS chairman will helm the new corporate entity, while Mr Lee Hsien Yang will take over as head of the regulatory authority.

Yesterday, the Transport Ministry named the other regulatory board members set to join Mr Lee - who is also chairman of Fraser and Neave, and former group chief executive officer of SingTel.

There will be four new faces on the board of the restructured CAAS: Mr Khoo Chin Hean, executive director, Energy Studies Institute; Mr Lim Yeow Khee, managing director, LYK Aerospace Pte Ltd; Mr Quek Keng Liang, executive director, Keppel Logistics Pte Ltd; and Mr Yap Ong Heng, CAAS director-general.

Aside from Mr Liew, other existing members stepping down are Mr Mike Barclay, chief executive officer of Sentosa Development Corporation; Mr Steven Lee, deputy chief executive officer (South Asia Pacific), DHL Global Forwarding Management; Mr Lee Liat Cheng, chairman and chief executive officer, Anglo- French Travel Pte Ltd; and Mr Lim Kim Choon, outgoing CAAS director-general and chief executive officer.

The ministry thanked Mr Liew and other outgoing board members for their contributions, and said Mr Lee's 'extensive leadership experience' will offer the new authority invaluable guidance in charting the future development of civil aviation in Singapore.

The new company set to run the airport has not yet disclosed its board members.
