STOMPer Panda feels that quality control over NDP goodie bags should be tightened after finding this torn flag in one of them. Other STOMPers have also highlighted various instances where the national flag is not handled or displayed properly.
One of the most common problems is not displaying the flag in the right orientation. The crescent and stars should be on the left of the flag.

"I came across this flag with the five stars rising on the wrong side.
"Singaporeans should pay more attention especially when the integrity of the flag is at stake.
"This is home truly only when the flag flies properly."

"Until today we still have people who do not know how to display our flag properly."
Another problem often highlighted is laundry hung over flags. STOMPer William spotted an example of this at Yishun:
"This is terrible, they are hanging their laundry along the common corridor as if it was their laundry line.
"Worst still, there is laundry over our Singapore Flag.
"This is at Yishun St 72 Blk 758."
STOMPer Growiser feels that the volunteers helping to put up the National Day decorations at Jurong West should be more mindful about how they handle the flags:
"I refer the flag decorations at Jurong West St 52 Blk 517B.
"On Sunday 3pm, a group of RC members came to decorate this multi-storey carpark with our national flag.
"While I have to give them credit for spending their time on a Sunday afternoon, I am dismayed with the way that the flags are handled.
"They left the flags on the ground and dragged it around. They also walked over the flags many times.
"I am very disappointed with the process and the end result."
