You could try the Thai food at Golden Mile complex. There's enough thai restaurants there and not so many sinkies.

There is a Nakhon near Kovan heartland mall, along the same stretch of HDB shops with mcdonalds. My grassroots friends introduced that place to me while we were doing some grassroots work deep in opposition territory. The food is cheap and good.

It's not expensive for me. You should attend more courses and upgrade your skills. Then, you can earn more money and the food there won't be too expensive for you anymore.
