Bernama (MY) — Singapore coastguard while watching the coastline for illegal activities noticed a flicker of light at the Selayang mid channel buoy on Saturday midnight. As the location is generally not associated with smuggling or the trafficking of illegal immigrants and as the location is the mid point for both countries, the Johore Marine Police were alerted for a joint intervention.

W/Cpl Intan Azura of the Malaysian Marine Police Coastal Craft "Chepat" said that on arriving at the location and with both boats turning on their high beam light found a sampan tied to the buoy and 3 men on the buoy pulling up a submarine cable.

The men, 2 Singapore Chinese and a Singapore Indian refused to furnish their identity except to say that they are known as Eatshitndie, Rannix and Nice-Gook. The individual identified at Nice-Gook went on to argue that the border is no man's land and cited the supposed precendents set by legal eagle QXP. Rannix wanted "evidence" and was incoherent much of the time while Eatshitndie kept saying that it can be done.

Singapore CoastGuard mini cutter commander "Anonymous" led by Sr Sgt, Lam Pin Min after discussions with his Malaysian counterparts agreed that Singapore authorities would take charge as Tanjong Rambutan is too far and Lorong Buangkok is a lot closer.

Equipment found on the buoy appear according to Constable M Maliki "are possibly used for line tapping".

Investigation continues.
