">KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman, whose whereabouts are unknown, is believed to still be in the country. This is based on a check by NSTP with a source at the Immigration Department, which has no record of Musa exiting Malaysia. It is understood that the Department is keeping an eye out for the former chief minister on orders from higher authorities.

">According to records, Musa’s most recent travel activity saw him take a Malindo Air flight from the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) here to Kuala Lumpur at 9am on May 14. He is said to have been in the capital to attend an Umno meeting chaired by former deputy prime minister and Umno acting president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. When contacted, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din confirmed the details, and said that police have yet to obtain a statement from Musa. “Tan Sri Musa has yet to come forward to give his statement. “What we know is that he is not in Kota Kinabalu,” he said today. Musa’s counsel, Zahir Shah, declined comment when contacted by NSTP. An article by an English language portal today reported that Musa is believed to have fled the country, either for Brunei or Singapore, with plans to go to London, the United Kingdom. Sabah police had previously urged Musa to come forward to give his statement on a recent police report lodged by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, to assist investigations being carried out according to Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. To date, police have recorded statements from nine individuals on the case, including Tun Juhar. On Wednesday, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) went to Musa’s house here, but was unable to enter the premises, as no one was at home. The operation is believed to have been connected to the MACC’s investigation of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, who cooperated with Sabah BN to form a state government after the 14th general elections.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos might have left the hospital where he was warded due to a “miscommunication”, his lawyer said today.

Jamal, who was previously arrested and charged for causing a public nuisance while he was in an Ampang hospital ward, disappeared from the hospital yesterday evening before his bail process was completed.

His lawyer Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin also publicly pleaded for Jamal to contact him or go to the Ampang district police headquarters.

He said that the Sungai Besar Umno division chief could have left the hospital because he was under the impression that his bail process had been completed yesterday.

“This is his first experience facing a charge or a procedure outside court chambers,” he said in a statement.

Imran and other friends of Jamal were taken to the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters yesterday after it was found that Jamal had left the hospital, and were released around 3am this morning as they were unable to reach or locate the controversial leader.

“I am worried that he is in a trauma or (under) unnecessary pressure because this situation is something new for him,” he added.

He also said that he believes the police will help complete the bail process without arresting Jamal if he shows up.
