Canadian Imam Abdullah Hakim Quick In Toronto Friday Sermon: The Vatican Shows Arrogance And Splendor; Christians Have No Modesty, Use Pagan Symbols; The Prophet Said Jesus Would Return To Break The Crosses, Slay All Pigs; He Invited Ancient Christians To Islam; Many Joined Him, Others Paid The Jizya Poll Tax
Canadian Islamic scholar Abdullah Hakim Quick discussed Islam's relationship with Christianity in his April 25, 2025 Friday sermon at the Toronto and Region Islamic Centre, following the recent passing of the Pope. He cited an episode from the biography of the Prophet Muhammad, in which Christians in Arabia approached the Prophet with arrogance, which he likened to the attitude of Christians in the Vatican today, saying: "You see them with their clothing, their arrogance, and their splendor."
Quick said that three things distinguish Muslims in Canada from the Christian majority, that Christians eat "swine flesh," use "pagan symbols" like the Cross, and lack modesty and shame. He stated that Jesus is alive and will return to rule over the Muslims, and that he will slay the pigs and break the Cross.
Abdullah Hakim Quick: "In the past few weeks and days, the events of the Christian world have overtaken people's minds in many parts of the world.

"A huge delegation of Christian people, Christians in Arabia – they came from a place called Najran – it was considered to be the Kaaba of the Christians. So they came with their arrogance and their splendor – the same as you can see today in the Vatican, and you see the people with their clothing, their arrogance, and their splendor – and they came to the Prophet, and he invited them to Islam.

"But they still did not want to believe.
[...]
"They were allowed to maintain Christianity and they paid the jizya [poll tax].
[...]
"The [Christian] people of Najran eventually came into Islam in crowds. They entered Islam completely. But three key issues are there that we need to keep in mind, as we are living in this so-called Christian majority [country] – three points that the Prophet brought: Number one, and that is shirk, polytheism.

"Secondly, the pagan symbols.
[...]
"And finally, it is the lifestyle of the Christians: They eat the flesh of swine, they have no modesty, they have no shame, and so this is what distinguishes between us and them.

"Jesus, who is alive now, and will return to the Muslims... [There is] a major international confusion going on, a major war happening, but leadership is returning to the Muslims.
[...]
"The Prophet, in an authentic hadith, later on, was reported to have said that Jesus will return as a just ruler, he will come as a righteous leader, he will slay the pigs, he will break the crosses, and he will lift the jizya [poll tax]."
