They didnt fix the gate and caused the guard to die?

THE faulty motor in the automatic gate had not been replaced, despite six months having passed. And that delay may have claimed a life.

Mr Ong Yue Hing, 55, died when the 10m by 3m gate, weighing around 900kg, fell on him.

It was his first day at work, and Mr Ong was manually closing the gate of the Sengkang North-East Line depot with a colleague when it fell on him around 7.20pm on March 15 last year.

Mr Ong died about four hours later in hospital.

At a coroner’s inquiry yesterday morning, State Coroner Imran Abdul Hamid asked investigating officer Ang Gim Chye from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) when the gate motor was replaced.

900kg shutter...if Buikia were to make love with me, I think I would feel the same like 900kg shutter just crashed onto me :(

Mr. Ong blood is on SPH hands.

No thanks to HC again.

Nepotism easily kills the sinners!

Terrible. What a waste of innocent's life (on his first day of work!)!! Hope they compensated the victim's family well -- any updates on this?

it is the ex ceo malaysian fault, jail her and ban her from singapore, oops, she is friend of HC. Never mind then, let's move on.

Many companies outsource this part of their operation to security firm. So to say, the security guard may not be an employee of the MRT.

That being said, many security firm has little or no insurance coverage for their staff.
