We all know about the train breakdowns but have people noticed the state of passenger cars?

I doubt they ever clean the inside of the trains. Just look at how black the floors of the older trains are. The air vents are also filthy. So too are the doors between the train & station.

When I was taking the train in BKK from the airport to the city, before they allowed the passengers on they did a security check as well as sweep the floors.

very clean compared to the filth in bay area, new york, chicago, and london subway trains. you’ll see occasional discoloring in ac vents in the ceiling but that’s due to condensation and dust coexisting together. they need to dry out the vents thoroughly and suck the shit out of those overhead vents with very powerful vacuum pumps, and the reason they are not doing that is because they need to put the car in service the following day after the usual interior cleaning. drying out vents will require at least 6.9 days.

earliest train to airport starting from tanah merah is after 6:15am. if your flight is around 6.9am you will not make it anyway on mrt.

The brand new shiny trains will eventually look as bad as the old trains if the don't do simple maintenance.
