Mother's boyfriend jailed for molesting her daughter

A DRIVER, who shared a bedroom with his girlfriend and her 15-year-old daughters, made advances to the teenager in the middle of the night. The 33-year-old man went too far and was jailed six weeks on Thursday for outraging her modesty.
On May 10 last year, she was lying on the floor of the bedroom sending text messages to a friend. At 1am, her mother's lover got off the bed and lay next to her. He asked her why she was still awake and hugged her.
He then kissed her right cheek before kissing her lips and slipping his tongue into her mouth. He French kissed her again and licked her ears in the next eight minutes before returning to the bed.
The victim, a secondary school student, was too afraid to resist or cry out. But that morning, she called her father, who is living elsewhere. He came over and bashed up his wife's boyfriend, who needed 10 days' medical leave to recover.
The fight prompted a neighbour to summon the police who then found out about the molest accusations.
Defence counsel Tan Hee Joek said that his client was still living with the victim's mother and they were planning to marry. The teen had moved in with her father.
Asking for a jail sentence, deputy public prosecutor Agnes Chan said that the molestation was not 'fleeting' but stretched for eight minutes.
Agreeing, district judge See Kee Oon said the young victim had been subjected to 'prolonged, unwanted advances'.
