It is the media sensationalism to some extent. Some extent also true about atrocities.

Reality is a mix.

Basically with the residential schools they had cemeteries for the dead. Some children die from illness. Some die from abuse. Some are also buried with their parents at the cemetery near the school.

The funding for the cemeteries to be maintained is poor. So no headstones. Wooden crosses. Over time degenerated.

Over time become "unmarked graves". (A cemetery that is all wooden and perishable grave markers and is not maintained over time will become unmarked graves)

The narrative with media is always about who is abused. Who is bullied. Who is taken advantage of. Who is punished wrongly. Who is marked unjustly.

But somehow media will never bite the hand that feeds them. Rich people who earn obscene amounts of money to the point they have so much they can never spend all of it and certainly from a ethical point of view cannot possess so much without ignoring those who do not have enough.

I am all for a world that has a limit on how much wealth a single person can possibly hold at any one point in time. Maybe something like 10X the average lifetime income of an average person?

Say an average person earns about $50,000 a year. Works from age 25 to 70. 45 years total. Total lifetime income = $2.25M

So the max any person should be able to have is about $25m. Anything more than that they will have it taxed away and that money is used to fund programs for the poor.

The world will be a better place. Truly.
