New accusations have been levelled against Singaporean Robin James Chua, who is accused of human trafficking charges in the Philippines.

He and his Filipina wife Dolores Yamson Salvador allegedly detained six Filipinas in their house in Singapore in 2011 and did not release their salaries, reported Sun Star Cebu on Wednesday.

The six women, believed to be victims of human trafficking and illegal recruitment, had sought the help of the Philippine Embassy in November that year, according to Cebu City assistant prosecutor Liceria Lofranco-Rabillas.

The women claimed that they were forced to work to pay off a debt. It is believed they worked at Chua's Tanjong Pagar pub, said Ms Rabillas.

It remains unclear whether the women have returned to the Philippines.
