SINGAPORE - The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) seized the largest haul of heroin uncovered for the year on Wednesday.

ICA officers were conducting a routine check on a Malaysian-registered vehicle at around 7.30am on Wednesday morning when they uncovered packets of brown substance under the rear passenger seat.

A total of 20 packets of heroin, weighing approximately 9.27kg with a potential street value of more than $649,000, were seized, ICA said in a statement.

Central Narcotics Bureau officers conducted follow-up investigations and arrested a 27-year-old Malaysian man in the vicinity of Woodlands Town Garden, suspected to be an associate of the 28-year-old man driving the car.
