TOKYO: The number of people taking their own lives in Japan rose for the first time in over a decade last year, as the pandemic reversed years of progress combatting a stubbornly high suicide rate.
Japan's health and welfare ministry said on Friday that 20,919 people died by suicide in 2020 according to preliminary data, up 3.7 per cent from the previous year. That compares with 3,460 deaths from coronavirus in the same period.
It marks the first year-on-year rise in suicides in more than a decade, with women and children in particular taking their lives at higher rates.
Japan has long had the highest suicide rate among the Group of Seven advanced countries – though regionally, South Korea registers higher figures. But the government has worked in recent years to better support people with mental health needs.

This proves that Covid is no big deal it is the actions taken to try to contain the virus which is what is causing all these deaths.

Not alarming. The nips have always liked taking their own lives anyway.

excuses made by the commies or stinkies or other cina babi won't cut it.

SERDANG: A senior citizen who was Covid-19 positive was found dead at his home in Bandar Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan with a slash wound on his throat.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Razali Abu Samah said the police and officers from the Health Ministry rushed to the scene at about 9pm on Friday (Jan 22).

"Checks revealed there was no criminal elements in his death. We discovered a slash wound the throat of the 66-year-old man," he said when contacted on Friday night.
ACP Razali added that police at the scene also discovered a knife next to the victim's body.

"The investigation revealed that the man did a swab test at a private hospital on Jan 7 and was confirmed to be Covid-19 positive the next day. A second swab test was conducted in Jan 18 and the results on Jan 20 revealed that he was still positive," he said.
ACP Razali said the victim had spent a lot for his Covid-19 treatment.
"He had asked his wife to go to the bank with him on Jan 22 to transfer RM40,000 to pay for Covid-19 treatments," he said
"According to his wife, the victim often complained of being in pain and he was depressed after it was confirmed that he was infected with the virus," added ACP Razali.
ACP Razali said that there were no signs of a break-in at the victim's home, adding that nothing was missing from the house.
He added that the neighbours did not hear any arguments from the house.
"We are classifying the case as a sudden death," he said.

That's the plan behind the Great Reset - reduce world population. Self-elimination of women and children will increase the effect exponentially.
