PM Najib Arrives In Singapore For Bilateral Talks
SINGAPORE, Sept 19 (Bernama) - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak arrived here Sunday night for a 24-hour working visit to the city-state.
Najib, accompanied by his wife Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor, flew in into Changi Airport on a Malaysian special aircraft from Kuala Lumpur.
The prime minister is scheduled to have a four-eyed meeting with his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana tomorrow.
This will follow with the delegation meeting involving both the prime ministers and several of their cabinet members.
Najib and Lee first met here on May 24 this year and tomorrow's talks are to follow up on the initiatives that both of them had laid out to enhance the bilateral relations and increase the connectivity between the two neighbouring countries.
In the May meeting, both leaders made history after they managed to thrash out the long-pending issues which were scuttling the otherwise smooth relationship between the two countries, particularly on the Points of Agreement (POA) on the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) land in Singapore.
This time, both leaders are expected to look deeper into the initiatives under the POA, including the relocation of the KTMB Tanjong Pagar Station to Woodlands, the establishment of a joint-venture company between Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Temasek Holdings Ltd, and the KTMB land swap and its potential development.
Other Malaysian cabinet ministers joining Najib in the meeting are Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman.
