<!-- for social media sharing functions --><script></script><script></script><!-- END social media sharing functions -->SINGAPORE: 125 awards were presented to individuals, groups and units from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in recognition of their outstanding and innovative contributions.
MINDEF said their innovations and work improvement ideas, resulted in total savings of S$163.6 million in the last financial year.
Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, who officiated at the MINDEF PRIDE (PRoductivity and Innovation in Daily Efforts) Day 2012 awards ceremony, highlighted the importance of continuous innovation in MINDEF and the SAF.
He noted that "for MINDEF and the SAF to be world class organisations, we must constantly renew this drive to do things better or find new ways, even new ideas to achieve our goals, because that is what will set us apart."
Dr Ng also urged each individual in MINDEF and the SAF to continue to play their part and to implement innovative ideas with vigour.
He said, "all these contributions, small or large, add to our quest to make MINDEF and the SAF a thinking progressive organisation."
Since its inception in 1981, the MINDEF PRIDE Movement has been promoting a culture of organisational excellence, innovation and productivity.
PRIDE Day is held annually to recognise the outstanding efforts and contributions by participants of the MINDEF PRIDE Movement.
This year's theme, "iMatter. iCan. iWill.", promotes the idea that every personnel in MINDEF and the SAF has a role to play in building an organisation that continually strives for excellence.
The public is invited to visit the MINDEF PRIDE Day 2012 Exhibition, held in conjunction with Army Open House @ Our City from 26 to 27 May, 9am to 8pm.
The exhibition showcases a range of innovative projects contributed by individuals and teams from MINDEF, the SAF, ST Engineering and Defence Science & Technology Agency.
