There are only two lifts serving this whole Punggol block, yet broken-down lift needs one week to be repaired, causing some inconvenience to residents.

A STOMPer sent in this MMS to STOMP today (26 Sept):

“This is a lift at Punggol Field 175C. Saw the following notice outside one of the lifts informing people that the lift is going to take one week to repair.

“There’s only two lifts serving the whole block. It has been causing a lot of delay due to the long waiting time during peak hours when a lot of residents are using it.

“There is nothing stated on the notice if the technician is waiting for parts. “

Nothing to do with the PAP. PAP is good. What's the SDP's policy on this?

Lift maintenance is tendered out to commercial companies. Maybe there is a shortage of staff due to high staff turnover.

There are stipulated performance targets on contract maintenance work and any breaches in performance targets will result in liquidated damages on the company.

More like cut cost and over-commit lah!

I agree. There is a tendency for maintenance to deteroriate when contractors try to out bid one another to get business.

On this, the fault lies squarely on GMs of Town Councils who mechanically award the contracts to the lowest bidder.
