Lava has spilled down the peak of a volcano in western Mexico as an eruption spewed ash more than six kilometres into the air - and the incredible even has been caught on video.
The Volcan de Colima, known as the Fire Volcano, began erupting early on Thursday morning and continued on Friday.
The blast was caught on webcam, with pictures showing the intense heat of the lava flows.
Local authorities have told nearby residents to keep well away from the mountain, which has a history of violent seismic activity.
Recent eruptions have occurred in 1991, 1998, 1999 and in 2001, and it has erupted more than 40 times since 1576, with one of the largest eruptions on January 20th to 24th, 1913.
Another eruption in 2005 caused a cloud of ash to rise 3.2 kilometres into the air.
