I read in the news that a mental health patient had fallen to her death and that she had been a patient of Institute of Mental Health. Despite all that, no health worker has been assigned to monitor her progress and due to mounting pressure of taking care of her wheel-chair bound mother, she succumbed to her illness and committed suicide.

http://www.yourhealth.com.sg/content...-kill-yourself.

Could her death be prevented if the social well-being of the citizen is closely monitored by IMH? If the social welfare department had been working in close liason with IMH, they could have taken over the monitoring and assist the patient after her release from IMH.

There is a serious lapse in health care provision by our govt. Any patient who has family members around would not receive close attention till the patient is totally alone in this world. Having family members whom are also not well off and not in good condition to take care of the patient would also not be of any help to the patient.

Worst still, the patient is given an additional task of taking care of her aged and wheel-chair bound mother.

All these events finally led to the death of the patient.

Singapore can succeed economically but failed in humanity toward her own citizen.

Now where is that SBF taxi driver? Last I read, he was losing his grip and wanting to say goodbye as there was too many lanjiao people around.

Isn't that a great thing for the PAP govt? The unproductive and the undesirables are offing themselves, preventing further wastage of scarce resources.

What good is pandering to some deranged simpleton when you can have economic growth?

Maybe he was that taxi driver who got killed by a certain lanjiao person in a Ferrari, at a junction near the Bugis MRT station...

do we actually know the true story of the case?

many IMH patients do commit suicide even under close scrutiny and supervision. we cannot blame the system just because the patient died.

mentally challenged patients are not easy to treat and to monitor closely. luckily we are strict with our gun laws....otherwise....well...you know what can happen....

If not the PAP FAULT, whose fault?
