An Indian lorry driver was jailed for killing Emeritus Professor Tan Yock Lin, a senior NUS law lecturer, in a 2023 accident on Upper Thomson Road. The driver, Natarajan Mohanraj, was sentenced to 2 years and one month in jail and received a lifetime driving ban for causing death by driving without due care. He had been distracted by his phone when he lost control of the lorry, crossed the centre divider, and collided with the professor's car. Another "foreign talent" allowed to kill S'poreans in our own country.

sinkie drivers are very docile by world standards. in sf bay area drivers run red lights, make illegal u-turns, speed in school zones, double park, occupy 2 parking slots, shoot each other, hit and run, flip the bird and honk frequently. it’s a warzone.
