MediShield premiums to increase soon: health minister

SINGAPORE: Health Minister Gan Kim Yong said MediShield premiums are due for an increase soon.
Mr Gan told Parliament on Wednesday that the premiums need to be adequate to sustain MediShield members' claims and fund future liabilities.
He said a 45-year-old may see a premium increase of S$7 per month, with younger age groups seeing a smaller increase.
While a 75-year-old could see an increase of S$25 per month.
To offset these increases, a one-time Medisave top-up of up to S$33 per month, was announced in the recent Budget for all Singaporean policy holders to help cushion the impact of the increase.
In addition, older policy holders who are beyond the re-employment age of 65 will receive direct and long-term assistance via Medisave top-ups under the GST voucher scheme, up to S$37.50 per month which can offset the premium increase in full.

Give With Your Right Hand But Take Back Double With Your Left Hand. So never be too happy when the govt announces some benefits to the people. What they give they will take back double through various ways. In fact, whenever the govt mentions giving something back to the people, we should all be frightened as that means increases in fees and charges etc somewhere and sometime down the road.

Something wrong. Must sue the medisave. How come can up premium? The customer already agree with the package premium and payout. Unless new package/new premium let the consumer choose.
Those stick the the original package price should fix already with no changes.
Hope that Opp MPs will bring out this matter.
