[h=2]May Day ‘special’ from SMRT: Trains delayed along North-South Line for more than 10 minutes[/h]Posted by temasektimes on May 1, 2012
It may be a ‘Labor Day’ today, but SMRT trains continue to be besieged by ‘minor’ disruptions which raise the ire of commuters once again.
According to commuters, trains were delayed along the North-South Line for more than ten minutes and many found themselves stuck in the stations without any announcements being made by SMRT.
Goh Yong Wei asked on Twitter:
“Is there a delay on north south line? Trains taking forever to reach braddell!”
Eric Lim was stuck at Yishun:
“I’m now at Yishun, I waited for about 2 minutes before the sign tell me that the next train is 6 mins later…”
Alex Liew could not catch the sight of a train for 10 minutes:
“Hi no trains to woodlands for 10 minutes.”
Far Aziz waited for more than 20 minutes this morning for a train:
“I was at bishan this morning, from the circle line, towards woodlands. Got there at 615am and waited with no announcements or displays til 635am, got pissed, walked up to the station control and the uncle told me today the FIRST train from Marina Bay would arrive at 643am because of public holiday. This isn’t my first time taking the train home from work on a public holiday but this was the first time this happened. If the start of svc was due to train fault at least be honest about it. Making people pissed.”
It appears that SMRT has stopped notifying commuters of train delays on its Twitter page and over the PA system to downplay and shield them from public scrutiny.
There are also immediate comments from Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew on the latest embarrassing spate of minor train disruptions lasting less than 30 minutes which according to him, is ‘unavoidable’.
