KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Malaysian rapper Namewee has been charged with drug use and possession following his arrest last month, police confirmed today.

The confirmation came after he publicly denied drug use in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, also known as “Nurse Goddess”.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the 41-year-old, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, was arrested at a hotel on Oct 22, where officers found nine pills suspected to be ecstasy.

He added that Wee also tested positive for a cocktail of drugs, including amphetamines, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC.

“On Oct 24, he was charged with two offences under Sections 39A(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for possession and use of drugs,” Fadil said in a statement.

The possession charge under Section 39A(1) carries a penalty of up to five years in jail and as many as nine strokes of the rotan upon conviction.

The drug use charge under Section 15(1)(a) provides for a maximum two-year jail term or a fine of up to RM5,000.

Fadil added that Wee pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on bail of RM4,000 for each charge.

The case is set for mention on Dec 18.

Yesterday, Namewee denied the drug allegations after they emerged in Chinese vernacular media, saying he was “really pissed off” by false news reports and public speculation surrounding the incident.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Hsieh was found dead in a hotel bathtub on Oct 30 while filming a video project with Namewee.

Finally the mother fucker is brought to justice. May he be arse fucked by his fellow CAQs in prison.

Police confirmed he took drugs, and suspects that he carried the dead body of the victim to the bathroom.

He is finished.
