Singaporean businessman Dan Tan Seet Eng is wanted by the Italian authorities over suspected “sporting fraud” and “criminal association”. This was revealed recently to The New Paper.

Tan has been accused of masterminding 33 rigged matches in Serie A and Serie B since 2008.

Italian prosecutors cannot ask for his arrest because Singapore has no extradition treaty with Italy, but an investigating magistrate told The New Paper that Tan would likely be prosecuted in absentia.

If found guilty, Tan could be sentenced to a jail term of six to 14 years.

Read the full report in The New Paper on Wednesday (Oct 11).
