That's what 70% of Singaporeans wanted. So please "shut up and sit down".

a sampling siize of two can determine the final outcome of the global economy?

we can all fire all economists now.

Looks like the highest paid ministers in the world got no answer to it-see how they handle the SGH Hep C infections that has killed 8 people!

If earn 10k paycut 20%, still can deal with it, if earn 1500, less 300, it's going to be big problem.
What is the possibility of a reinstatement?. My guess is if it continues, for the next 6 month, retrenchment will be next......

There is no future for engineers in Spore. From what I see many of those doing well are those with connections working for the gov't, GLCs, or cronies
There just aren't any jobs for engineers. My colleagues were engineers but we were not doing engineering jobs.

I pity the current generation in Spore because their parents voted for a gov't that is more interested in helping foreigners than Sporeans.

manufacturing died long ago only kept alive by hiring f trashes ... engrs. technicians n managers which actually hastened its demise thru massive frauds, cockedups, unproductivity.............. serve them right for hiring f trashes

both my friends are drawing 7k and above.

What whisper? Even the construction sector is in the doldrums. The humbled Loong better end the cooling measures and beg all the rich foreigners to buy the excess condom holes. Not only that, he has to sell more land to the developers to kick start the construction sector, and build more underground roads and expressways. We need to start digging deeper into the ground to sustain our construction sector. A good suggestion would be to move the whole of Toa Payoh estate underground. It will be a world first, and the humbled Loong will be remembered for his pioneering work just like his father LKY.

I doubt even if cooling measures are removed, it will do much. Global.economies are in doldrums and everyone is keeping cash. Many may not buy yet...

Contrarian view:

The renminbi, however, has recently stabilized, and capital flight has dwindled, as evidenced by the better-than-expected reserve figures released by the People’s Bank of China on October 7. This suggests that the government’s policy of shifting gradually to a market-based exchange rate may have been better executed than generally believed; even the measures to support the stock market now look less futile than they did in July.

In short, Chinese economic management seems less incompetent than it did a few months ago. Indeed, China can probably avoid the financial meltdown widely feared in the summer. If so, other emerging economies tied to perceptions about China’s economic health should also stabilize.

The trouble in Spore is keeping a well paying job.

With NS we are already at a disadvantage compared to females & foreigners & things don't improve when we make higher pay because we are perceived as being too old & expensive.

Singapore should know by the middle of the week whether the country is in recession.
Red dot barely escaped "technical" recession. No need market whispers, known fact for awhile

Singapore avoids technical recession as economy grows 1.4% in Q3

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP expanded 0.1 per cent in the July to September period, reversing the 2.5 per cent contraction in the previous quarter and beating analysts’ expectations.

The manufacturing sector contracted by 6 per cent on a year-on-year basis in the third quarter, following the 4.9 per cent decline in the previous quarter. The contraction was largely due to a fall in the output of the electronics, biomedical manufacturing and transport engineering clusters
