Markus the 'prostidude' has quitted

The first licensed gigolo in America, Markus, has called it quits due to bad business.

Markus had entertained fewer than 10 customers since he started work at Shady Lady Ranch, a brothel in a Nevada desert town, in January.

He only got his first customer 10 days after reporting to work. After that, he had "serviced" about six to seven women.

Markus quit his job and returned to acting a few weeks ago. He was a porn actor before stepping into the prostitution business.

He did not respond to an e-mail message sent by The Associated Press seeking comment.

Bobbi Davis, who runs the brothel with her husband, however, said Markus' departure was a mutual decision.

She said the brothel has temporarily stopped servicing women.

"We're just taking a little break," she told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, adding it would keep hiring male sex workers and keep the business going.

She said she had found a replacement - a man in his 30s who goes by the name Y. Not.

She said Y. Not had started work after Markus left but was forced to stop due to an electrical problem in the bungalow he was using.

"Y. Not will be back to work in May or June, or as soon as the problem is fixed," she said.

Davis said the brothel business would still be focusing on women prostitutes serving men.

The Shady Lady Ranch created a stir when it successfully obtained the license to hire a male sex worker in January.
